You have my heart
A gentle grasp
Yet on a rainy day
I can’t help but ruminate
Of why you indulge them
When I’m here lingering
Am I selfish?
Or why you uncover them
Piece by piece
Like the artifact
I once was
And waste the time you consider sacred
Or the energy you guard so closely
Rather than saving what remains
For me
A tight grasp
Paralyzes me
Robs me of breath and reason
Until somewhere in my subconscious
I find
I’m not
